    ss serving napkin or towel?

    hey guys,
here is another piece my dad brought back. this napkin or whatever it is was found at hitlers house. my dad had gone up to see hitlers, goerings, speers and the other houses in and around Berchtesgaden. of course the berghof was bombed out and cleaned out by g.i's prior to my dads visit. but while in what i would guess wqs the great room was a pile of rubble near a huge fireplace as he described it. just a very small piece of the clothe was sticking out. there were other guys there also so my dad waited til nobody was looking and pulled it out and stuffed it into his pocket. he told me he didnt even look at it until he got back to his barracks where he was housed. i also have a photo of the side of the house with my dads nickname scratched into the wall. his nickname was bill. even up to his passing he told people his name was bill when introduced. thats a whole other story though. anyway,i would appreciate it if anyone can help with info of any kind about it. the shield looks like an ss voluteer shield maybe? and the red /white checkered pattern maybe croatin ss???? what do you think.
    thanks

        With respect
Unless you have any photographic evidence you are going to have a tough time proving exactly what this who knows ..... ?

stoss, what do you mean by evidence? i know exactly where it came from because of the man my father was and story behind the piece. the best part is this napkin stayed rooled up in a plastic bin forever because my dad didnt even care about it. so no point in attaching a berghof story to it if it wasnt true. along with the photos of hitlers house he personaly had shot i in my whole life have never doubted the mans word. so if you mean i need evidence of it at the berghof i have nothing like that. the napkins isnt for sale and never will be so i am not trying to prove anything to anyone. i was just asking for insight and help from the members to see if they could help with identifing it.thanks

This style of "political" emblazened "napkins and table cloths" were fairly common in "Nazi" circles..... I don't see anything related directly to Hitler, and certianly nothing to do with the "SS", Foreign Volunteers, or Croatian Division...

You certianly should believe your father's story.....however, for all the rest of us, the burden of proof would be very high......(as far as having anything directly linked to "Hitlers house".....) quality isn't what I'd expect for the "big guy" himself....maybe for the staff. That said, certianly very nice and worth further investigation..... even "as just a period tablecloth" it's worth collecting for sure! But photographic evidence would make ALL THE DIFFERANCE....

It's not personal.....don't take offense....just the reality of things.

The style is actually pretty typical of stuff found in the Berghof and its bunkers. He was big into kitsch.

Plus he received all kinds of gifts, like this, from wellwishers.

I have studied thousands of photos inside the building, but I don't think I recognise this pattern. I will double check with the ones I have to hand though.

If you come to sell it, I'd be interested.

                  Thanks for posting.

They are SS in the same way that Thorsten's salad bowls are SS.

It looks to be a nice period item, probably ideal as a backdrop for a IIIrd Reich cultural collection.
