I think most of us really like the look of tunic removed insignia. I recently found this example of an officer's quality ϟϟ runic tab which looks to be tunic removed.
Looking at it I'm wondering if it is an early, mid or late-war time frame. From the black badge cloth (looks like moleskin to me), I feel that this may be an early-war period, although I don't know of that really is an indicator.
What I'd like to know from you guys is do you use the materials as a guide to determine when a piece of insignia may have been produced? E.g., I think we all assume the BeVo tabs are mid to late war produced, so I'm curious about what the consensus might be on bullion runic tabs.
I also assume the way that the twisted aluminum cord border is attached, that this is an NCO upgrade.
I would appreciate hearing your thoughts and opinions.
