    SS Death Card

    Hey guys: Recently I picked up this nice SS Trooper's death card. Check out the shiny rivet on his helmet! That would spook a lot of helmet collectors to see that today, but there it is in use.

    Can anyone translate this Man's info please?

    Thanks,

      Death Card

      Interesting that there is no religious depiction on the card anywhere, like all the German ones I've seen. I wonder if he survived the war.

          The religious depiction is the Christian cross on the front cover behind the Flemish Lion.

            Nice death remembrance card of a Flemish SS volunteer.
            I'll take a stab at the translation as follows:

            In remembrance of Andre Cyriel Joseph Delft, volunteer of the Flemish SS Sturmbrigade Langemark, member of the Flemish National Union, "Dietsche" (greater Germany) Militia,
            the holy heart foundation, and Youth movement, (the latter are Catholic organizations)
            born in Ooigem on June 21, 1924, killed in action January 6, 1944 at Babuschki, sector Sjitomir, in the battle against godless bolshevism

            on the flip side it lists the parents, siblings (sisters + a,brother) and related familie and has religious wording (talking about Christianity...) but ending with;

            Comrades, maintain (keep) this keepsake as a remembrance of what only a hero deserves. You know he gave his life for you and your fellow citizens
            and he will live forever in you (in your hearts)
            Mirror yourself in his example and carry the burden (of his loss) as his family does. He who does not have parents like his, can not be called "my son, a hero".
            So fight for Dietschland's victory
            (Dietschland =greater Germany, to include Holland and Flemish Belgium) and we will all share the fruits of such heroes deeds

                No personnel file in the main collection at NARA, unfortunately.
