Hi fellas, I'm pretty sure that these are "Kupferbraun" rather than "Hellbraun", but I'm not really familiar with WSS boards. Thoughts?

Copperbrown shoulders
Hi, as for the waffenfarbe color, it is certainly not the flat light brown of the KZ., but copperbrown and orange shades can some time be hard to tell from photo graphs. Also many collectors are not fond of wool waffenfarbe and this may be why you are not getting much response.

Helbrun vs Kupferbraun
To the best of my knowledge Helbraun, shown in the chart above, a flat light brown was always for KZ. The Copper-brown was used early in the war for rece units along with Calvary yellow-gold, which replaced it later on in the war.
This has been a topic before and you should search this forum for more info. In the meantime I'll dig out my SS calendar, which also shows copper-brown

Thank you areilley, I have heard of collectors that are suspicious of wool waffenfarbe before, but I've never known why. I tried looking though Angolia to find reference of wool being used or not used and I couldn't find any mention.
Dennis S, I was doing some digging myself and found this thread about KZ vs Recon waffenfarbe: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ht=kupferbraun Also, in Angolia, "Kupferbraun" is apparently phased out sometime between mid 1940 and mid 1942, but Hellbraun stays consistent from mid 1940 to the end of the war.

I am aware and agree that hellbraun is for kz. My question is why do collectors on this forum some more advanced in SS than I refer to copper brown at times as kz.
If the chart clearly calls kz hellbraun . I was under the impression that the chart is TR periods rom the ss diary.Last edited by Dennis S; 12-05-2013, 12:50 PM.

Heer Waffenfarbe Chart
I will attach the Heer waffenfarbe chart that shows the color for rece/AA unfortunately the name for the color is not given, but it is 'copper-brown'.
There has been a lot of confusion over the years, but helbrun is KZ and copper-brown is Rece/AA. Just to make things more confusing copper-brown and Calvary gold may have either Sutterland (sp?) A (which looks somewhat like a Roman U) or a Roman script A cipherAttached Files
