    Dutch SS legion recruiting pamphlet

I just scored this Dutch SS legion Niederlande Waffen SS recruiting pamphlet on fleabay for $83. I'm pretty excited about getting it.
Came from a Stateside collection with various Dutch occupation period pamphlets, this based on sellers offerings.
This was by far the most exciting piece!

            Hi Gaston
Its not in hand yet and the auction did not list a size...Maybe that's why it did not go for crazy money...
I am guessing small pamphlet (A4) "hand out" size based on this picture...not a huge poster size...

              Hi,

hmmmmm. It seemed to be a fake repro (as flyer) of an original full sized poster...
The fact that the SS Dienstelle can't be read is something the SS-Hauptamt would not accept...

              See You

Yeah it does appear to be a downsized poster design...I think the orange print is just less clear because of some bleeding and poor photography...
Looks more blurry in the images than in real life I am thinking (but not in my possession yet...). We will see when it comes in.
Btw in the collection were other period flyers/pamphlets (far less spectacular) about the local Dutch Police warning about sabotage repercussions (broken windows etc..)
pamphlets that would not be copied for sale here in the States you would think...(small market in Holland only)
All came from 1 collection Stateside it appeared ....and the misprint of the orange border made it look actually legit to me... So this size is a definite issue?
                The exact dims to follow!

This confirms my suspicion too (and why i asked for the size).

In 1945/46 a reprint of many wartime pamphlets, posters and newspaper articles were published in a number of remembrance magazines of the war, under the name "Nederland in den Oorlog - Historisch document met reproducties van officieele stukken". (The Netherlands in the war - Historical document with reproductions of official publications).

Many of the reproductions from inside these magazines (that were later bundled into one very thick book) have been cut loose from the magazines and sold seperately to unaware collectors. 83 dollar, quite a lot of money for a little copy piece of paper and very understandable why fraudsters try to sell them.

Nick, i don't know if you have payed it yet, else contact the seller and inform him that it's a copy.

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news.

As i happen to have all the issues as referencematerial, all it took was a quick photo.

Here it is in the book, originally bound in the postwarmagazine as they all were, there are several dozen of these reproductions, some quite scarily good! Since they are in this book we know they are a 100% sure reproduction.

Thanks Gaston (dat is balen, al betaald)
So this collection was indeed something that was compiled (as reprints) for a book in the early post war years and later split up and sold as war time originals...explaining these all appearing as downsized versions of war time"wall posters" which does not make sense size-wise for it to be an original period "affiche" (Poster)...Book-wise yes...scaled down as an illustration...oh well..
Your explanation makes perfect sense! All the other "bekendmaking" and "proklamatie" pamphlets were probably the same size and came from the same publication than...
                      Well you live and learn...
I do find it odd that if these were indeed postwar examples (scaled down) of wartime posters, and appearing in a book or magazine, why is there no back print???
I see now based on your example...added as mini posters in the publication...Era: early post war years I assume?

                        Hi Nick,

I think our post crossed eachother. There are no backprints as these are not full page size added extra's.

If you look at the picture i posted above you can see that miniatures of wartime publications (in this case a miniature of a poster) are added between normal pages to the spine of the magazine/book. They are exactly like the real thing, only smaller and of course copies. Many different miniatures like this are added to this publication, ranging from posters, passes, pamphlets, even sheets of stamps. All in small size (many different sizes!) of course.

                        best regards,
                        Gaston

                          Hi,

yes, i was thinking of the same source.
If i'm right, 16 "magazines" were published, and you can still find the full collection for sale online.

                          Cover of issue #1.

Nice cover! Based on the language style (old Dutch) these are post war magazines from right after the war....so the documents are still easily 67+ years old...

This explains the sellers description (old brittle):

                            100% authentic / NOT a reprint

This is an original WWII propaganda leaflet from the Netherlands during the height of the German occupation of Netherlands.
Germany recruited the Dutch people for the army, and was also involved with the rounding up of the Jewish people. You are bidding on the leaflet that is pictured.

This is from a private collection of WWII propaganda leaflets, and has always been stored flat
                            . Paper is brittle.
Please see all pictures for exact description and condition. Each Item is described to the best of my knowledge and is sold as is.
Please ask any question before bidding. Please view the pictures I have provided.

Will combine shipping and provide a tracking number.
NO refunds or returns, items are bought as is and as described. Your buying as you see it as described.

He covered himself pretty good...but still not as described...

                              Hi,

                              the collection started in 1946.
You can find the bounded collection for... 85 Euros. But the problem should be to be sure that all the inserts and repros are not missing...
