    SS collar tab sewing

Im going to order a Waffen-SS dot 44 tunic and trousers. Also im ordering SS collar tabs. Before it arrives I would like to know if i could do it at home or take it to a sewing store. What would be some basic materials i would need?

          Uniform Project

It depends on how good you are with a needle and thread or a sewing machine. You might want to post your inquiry in the Living History Forum.

If I were getting one of these tunics for reenacting which I don't do, I would not sew any insignia on it as most were found during wartime, if you must have insignia on it? I would only sew an Eagle to the sleeve and no collar tabs. just my opinion!

Also you may want to post your idea in this section here, http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...splay.php?f=42

The hessen copy is very poor.
the best pea dot copies are made by at the front, panther store or s m wholesale.
If you are getting a repro you might as well get one which looks right.

As for insignia the prior advice was spot on. Just a sleeve eagle on the 44 sets. Rare examples had more but it was not normally done
              regards

I believe what you thinking of, or have seen before is a dot 44 over a ss tunic with the collar of the tunic exposed. The actual dot 44 didn't have collar tabs sown directly onto it except in some extremely rare examples. The eagle, however, was sown directly onto the 44 and is the only insignia I'd use on a reenactment uniform of such.
