Post away man, I only took pics for material reference in the rare case I run into REAL SS items lol. It rarely happens where I live, makes you wonder sometimes,,hmmmm

My area of NRW is devoid of SS militaria or otherwise.

Heh, sat in your booth NC

It is a new museum Greg, the old one was not very good. I was a bit impressed. I have been to the castle many times but it is my 2nd time seeing the new museum.

One night, in the schloss, we met up with a couple of the Youth Leaders for a few beers in our room . . . and were invited over the following night, for a meal at the family home - in another town. I saw some very neat things that next evening - you can bet, there are still some REAL SS items out there . . . and in NRW, even.

Funny how everyone seems to "gravitate" to that booth. Did you notice the doors, and door knobs in the "historical museum"? I wanted to take one home - they were very impressive!

NC the HJ does not exist anymore, these so called youth leaders were imposters.. Just joking a bit. I did not go in that museum this time. I have this aversion to bringing my 6 year old into any unprotected museum exhibits since the last time in a pomo exhibit he tried to climb the Andy Warhol soup cans. He is very hands on. I have seen the knobs in the castle, myIam full of puns after that 6 hr drive, yes it is evident throughout the entire castle regarding the structure.

Never made the connection til now - funny - they did call themselves "Youth Leader's" . . . wonder if they understood how that could be perceived by guy's like us? I understand the trouble with unprotected displays and little tykes . . . and that is certainly a concern in the Historical museum. In the Terror museum, no problem - everything is covered in Plexiglass! Made my effort to get good photos difficult, at best . . . all that glare . . . AARRRGGHHH!

OK - back to work for me . . . and sounds like it's may be past your bed-time. Sleep well . . . and looking forward to carrying on again later . . .

Its a joke NC, the castle is technically now a Youth Hostel, so they would probably be Youth Leaders.

Well . . . the sign said "Jugendherberge" . . . so you mean, that meant "Youth Hostel" as well?

                              Sorry . . . I had to do that !

Believe me, after five nights, sharing the place with all the little one's, there was no way you couldn't tell it was a Youth Hostel.

Maybe I'll post some photos of this part of the town later - anyone care to see that?

Yes, the only reason I took him in was everything was well guarded behind plastic. Did you climb the Geotopes at externsteins? I opted to go looking for steinpils on the hills.
