        Sorry this is slightly off topic but do the so called 'pink' smocks have 2 needle felling on the side seams?

                  Great information.

                  With respect to smocks, page 65 of Mike Beaver's first book (Camouflage Uniforms of the Waffen-SS) talks about the "Jefferson Quartermaster Depot" evaluating an M-40 Palm smock on 1 December 1943. Beaver directly quotes lines from the report: "The entire garment has been sewn on a regular single needle machine, whereas numerous operations could have easily been performed on a regular double needle filling machine"
