NS cultural plate with spiral and runes as maker Mark

I've got this yesterday from an interesting house. It looks pretty nice, could it be SS related?

Mmmh..not as typically germanic at first glance as one would expect.

Nonetheless even some coloured and glazed Allach ceramic plates offer such a kind of more or less futuristic look - such ceramic pieces were made during the period but probably already in the late Twenties as they represent typical Art Déco stylistic elements.

The maker mark could be Kunsthafnerei Johann Glatz in Villingen-Schwenningen.

I thought, this spiral is a typical NS symbol...

Did I say anywhere that it is not?

              No.

I was refering to the outward appearance and shape of your piece in general.

Not every spiral is a Third Reich rune...

sometimes we see what we want to see, but that doesn't say it is what we want it to be

I have to agree with thorsten and dmv. I honestly see absolutely nothing here that could possibly be attributed to the SS.

I agree , and will further add not every rune is SS or even Nazi related either.

But to be fair to M-E-H-T, some person/or persons( I feel very PC today ) in this thread used to proclaim rather loudly that to see a spiral WAS to imply an SS and $$ connection.

too sad, I was pretty sure, that the combination of a spiral and the runes on the backside would disclose it as a nice NS item, and probably SS related.

                      So you destroyed my dream

                        Traumen

Let the dream continue aber eine bischen und kleiner Traum ... who knows for sure ? I know I do not know about your plate 100 percent.
Just cuz WAF consensus says one thing...does not always = absolute truth.

This is what I consider an example of a fine period cultural wooden plate with Spiral motif.

The maker mark on it´s back - visable to the left - is identical to another fine SS wedding plate which I own so I assume that this master carver was working for the SS.

The plate that started the thread is IMO nothing more than a ceramic decoration piece..most probably made in the 60s-70s
I have seen such plates every now and then on various fleamarkets here.
The makers mark is a normal stein mark..most probably from
the westerwald region where this ceramic stuff origins and is very popular there. Im on my mobile rightnow but later tonight i can probably give you the name of the maker.

Absolute claims of wood plates being SS need some basis in evidence. Perhaps you were waiting for someone to ask?
