Yes, that´s unusual! The other way round (SS soldier wearing Army eagle) now and then, but not an Army soldier with SS eagle.

Perhaps he was an old Allgemeine member drafted into the Heer ?

well what can I say...i have heard of blue division soldiers with Politzei belts and bayonets and even SS smocks......gues they did some traiding with the neighboring units the flemish and the 4th SS.........I even saw one with a panzer sckull in his tunic.......

This is only the second time in my many years of collecting I have seen Heer wearing SS insignia the first was years ago in a little shop here in Texas I was looking thru a book on Heer panzers on the Russian front and there was a pic of a Panzergrenadier wearing an SS sleeve eagle for his Heer breast eagle
