Thanks, Winkleman!! Those are pretty rare, and it sure looks similar to yours! There's never much response on these because it seems there aren't many original examples to study from. The first one's a dud for sure, though.

You are correct , and personally I do not like that one either .
Because of the way of manufacture , both originals AND reproductions will vary in details - a reason why not many will dare discuss these .. ?!
However , the first one posted here does show 2 red flags - one of which still is present on yours as well .
Let me gather some pictures & try to explain . Please remember I'm only trying to help here , give an opinion ( explicitly asked for ) , and may be wrong ..
the most Obvious red flag should be the FALSE THREADS around the edges - a row of perpendicular " T " stitches , which have no meaning .
Popular since the 1970's , these are added for the sole purpose of creating an instant " cutoff " impression - not to be found on any original .
