    Geggen Geist Gruppen

I just had a guy visiting that asked me about the Geggen Geist Gruppen. Not being my area of interest, I only know there was a section of the SS task to invetigate the para normal and Paganism. I promised him to pose the question here. I saw a program on the history channel about this subject, but that is as far as my knowledge goes. I thought if anyone can help , he would be around here. Maybe Thorsten? Thanx Jacques

This is what came up on Google "Gegengeist Gruppe or G.G.G. is a nazi organization, which was founded by Jurgen Wulf, that aimed to sustain Hitler in power through the use of occult artifacts, including obtaining and reassembling the remains of Beliar. "

It seems to be a fictional story from a game called "Blood Rayne" . Why am I wasting my time with this?

I don't know anything about this, but it's a fact that Himmler created a special branch of the Ahnenerbe in order to deal with witchcraft and witches; a pretty huge archive (called Hexenkartothek) was set up containing thousands of files related to persecuted and burned alive witches during the Inquisition time frame.
Seems like an old Himmler's female ancestor was one of them too.
It's said the branch was called Sonderauftrag H (C3) and was part of the RSHA Amt VII

Actually, not Ahnenerbe , like we would assume, but investigated by one of the intelligence/law enforcement branches- if I remember correctly.

You just walked into the minefield of make -believe added on to little bits of actual factual historical data.

Kind of like those books that say the Nazi UFOs are on the planet Aldabaron 5 as per the Ahnenerbe's plans of survival.

There was an Ahnenerbe...there was a review of Witch burnings in Germany
            but ...
            the rest is make-believe

oh...the initials G.G.G. was also used for a religious group during this era or just before, but without any connection to Witch-document reviewing powers.

            So there was a GGG.
Just not what the modern make believe story states

I suspect the author knew this-it makes for a successful recipe for such stories

Oh, all those "Hexenturms", and the like . . .

OK, Michael Fay - I would be curious to know - what is your "take" on this place . . . and to expand, what paralell's may exist, within the culture of the SS?

And really . . . this subject has very little to do with "SS Uniform's and Insignia" - more like "Culture" . . . maybe?

But if all here are "game" on allowing the leeway . . . I for one, think this could be an enjoyable topic!

Agreed. Would be a very interesting topic that I have no knowledge of but would enjoy learning.

NCW. , I don't know of anything like that as shown or titled. there're used to be a lot of remnants of towers in Scotland that were of unknown Origen. Of course lowland Scots were Germanic and Himmler was taught this by one of his special advisors. himmler was taught by another special teacher that a aryan religion had a group of wise women who held forth in towers giving counsel. but as to your turm photo there is nothing looking like that I have come across.

not sure of the location, but could be as well a Thingstaette when this is for sure of the 30's.

I assume is should read Gegengeist Gruppe.

Michael is correct about his assertions in my humble opinion.

A lot of inaccuracies have be fantasized about the German occult with respect to the SS -

Like Michael said, you have just walked into a mind field.

Actually, it dates back much farther . . . it is referred to as part of the "Hexenturm" that once surrounded Geseke - see here:

                          http://www.geseke.de/stadtinfos/stadtrundgang/sp_auto_539.php

And "T.K." was onto something when he mentioned, "It's said the branch was called Sonderauftrag H (C3) and was part of the RSHA Amt VII" . . . this is from a blog, but serves well to be brief in explanation, and even mentions much of the in-depth study on the topic:

                          http://magiaposthuma.blogspot.com/2008/03/h-sonderauftrag.html

And I agree - there is much material out there about the SS and the occult . . . and the quest to decipher fact from fiction does become a challenge quite often!

No problem, MF - Thanks - I am preparing a visit here soon, and hoped you might have been able to divulge additional information for which I was not aware . . .

In one HH auction not too long ago they sold the personal Siegel of Himmler depicting a witch and done by an artist in the region of Westphalia.

Just check one of their auction catalogues of the last two-three years.
