        Hi Simon

Do you see any evidence of any eagle mark or stitches on the right breast area?

        Regards

          John,

again I don't want to defend a "bad thing" and I agree with you. From the pics the eagle looks much more worn than the cufftitle. No doubt about that....

Let's go on with the discusion...

I'll say from the outset that I am not a Pz Collector, but from what I can see it looks pretty good to me with consistent wear on all the insignia less the cuff band. I have a slight issue with this inconsistency. A reasonable explanation, the Pz Soldat was issued his cuff band after his tunic hence it's brighter. However my gut says that the cuff title was added later, it appears machined to the tunic(I am sure Simon will clear this up). I am always more wary of machined on cuff titles as most tunics were issued without them and they would have been added by the soldier, possibly the Company tailor. Incidentally the cuff title also appears original bearing in mind we can't see the back. Just my opinion.

            Cheers

As we all know sewing machines, mostly hand operated, to a lesser extent foot operated, were common within the German military. When was it sewn on?????? With 60 odd years of history, to speculate would be pure conjecture at best or malicious folly. One would have to hold the item in one's hand and even then who really knows unless there is some modern component used in the item that is not period, that can be positively identified.

To have recently added the (exeedingly rare) Frundsberg cufftitle would have been financial folly,it's probably worth more off the wrap than it adds to the whole item.I think you need to see the wear in-hand,it certainly looks a beauty to me,and textbook Ravensbruck manufacture but I mostly know insignia.

                Cheers and welcome Simon.

                  Ian,

I agree but I guess it depends on what the whole 'ensemble' was bought for. As you say we probably need to see the wear in hand, photos however good never tell the full story.

                  Cheers

PS Do you visit the Pudsey Arms Fair? Always interested in meeting fellow insignia collectors? PM me if you are maybe we can meet up.

The cufftitle has not been added

Perhaps the light in the photos doesn't show things properly but I can assure you it has been on there as long as the eagle, it very well enbedded into the sleeve of the tunic as the item has been worn over time. To see this you need to see it first had, if you want me to prove this I am at Farnham on Sunday, if any of the european collectors are there I will bring it with me.
