    Diary Help

    HI All,
I received this used and abused but very nice SS diary today ... it was brought back to New Zealand by an ex POW and was unused at the time that he aquired it other than the name in the front .... since then he used it for various notations but nothing relevant to the initial owner....
Seeing as my main focus is New Zealand I have no experience in this area I am hoping someone may be able to help me and tell me what the details are that the initial owner has written in.

    thanks in advance guys.

I got this also from the veterans family ... I would love to know more but he never told his daughter (whom I got this from) anything about it ....can anyone make out any information in the diary page that may be of use to finding out more ? Also any hints where I may be able to look up any info on the serviceman ?

    Thanks
    Tim

      Info

Try the National German Archives: http://www.bundesarchiv.de/index.html.en

Can you post an image of the reverse of the cuff title?

At the top is his name, looks like last name first and then his hometown. It looks like the name may be Emil Meinert but I am not real good at reading that stuff.

The other information relates to his rank- SS-Rottenfuhrer

And physical size collar measurement and height etc. then the sereil numbers for his rifle, side arm probably a bayonet but maybe a pistol at that rank and it looks like a watch at the very bottom. Hard to read.

              Nice lot.
