Arno Nighthunter Berlin 1945 - Dragon

    Dear All,

I am very interested in the (Waffen) SS and I love the Dragon Dolls, they are great in detail and always very realistic.

Now I have the following question in their assortiment they have the Doll named Arno, dressed in the Leibmuster he is "hunting" in Berlin at night.

I hardly can believe that in the circumstances of the last few weeks of the 3rd Reich there were soldiers like Arno.

Is there any proof that this kind of soldiers really exist in such an outfit at the end of the war??

    Thanks and best regards,

    Rene

A very nice doll and very nice accesoire on his weapon

But like you say, such well equipped soldiers must have been scarce at that time

      Hey Rene,
All the equipment, and uniform of this type did exist although today it is rare to find such items.

The infa red "scope" did exist and very few saw service but they were issued. Why make them if your not going to use them? Or issue them to the soldiers right?

Its a hard question, and I think that no one can give you a 100% or
But it depends on what you think is possible, maybe a photo will surface and show a group of four soldiers out against the Red Army.

IMHO believe that a set up like this was used, trying to put one together isn't something easy and costs a few $$ or Euros.

One figure which I have to pick up.

One another note, I wonder where Dragon got the influence for a doll like this? Maybe they have a photo?

There is a photo out on the threads somewhere of a decent sized group of soldiers all wearing leibmustertarn. None have the IR scope and battery packs though.

The weapons were used and what is interesting is that every reference to IR equipped soldiers or panthers comes from the battle for Berlin. I hold no references to purport the use of them but surely it isnt just a foot note of fantasy.

The pieces do exist both for the panzer and infantry. There are a few photos showing the IR scope in use at dusk being operated by an infantryman.

Dragon puts a good deal of research into their figures.

Here is a link to the Panthers.

And one if you click the close up photo links bring up the pictures I mention. They are found in the reference photos section.
