SS COLLAR TAB – 18th Waffen SS Freiwilligen Panzer Division Horst Wessel
I am confused about the unit collar tab insignia for this division. I see the Dachau made SA tab as referred to as the 18th SS.
But when I research it I find pictures etc. of the Sword tab.
I think the SA type tab was made but never used but I need some clarification of the facts. Please.

Dave is correct.
These "SA" pattern Waffen SS tabs were indeed issued and worn, but in very limited quantities.
There are probably less than a 1/2 dozen known images out there showing it being worn...
Besides this well know example (Angolia book) I have seen 1 or 2 more at the most...I will check my records!
