    SS Allgemeine Visor - Comments?

    I was recently given this SS Allgemeine visor from friend. Not sure if it's real, I have some thoughts on the various aspects of the cap but would also like to get some opinions from the more knowledgeable forum members in this area of collecting if this item is real.

    I've got about 8 pics to post, so here I go.

                          ....... for the speedy response and comments fellows.

                          I was pretty sure that the Leichtmetall eagle insignia was repro i.e. lack of details and overall general appeareance. Castle, what aspect about the totenkopf made you feel that this was fake (probably the dimple between the eyes)?

                          The cap itself it seemed to me that the piping was incorrect as well as the plastic sweatshield. Dave, what were the obvious problems that you saw on the cap as well?

                          I'm still learning and trying to figure out these differences.

                            The skull has not got the detail that you would find on an original. It also looks out of proportion to the rest of the visor. In my own opinion, and opinion only, this is a repro that was done by someone who knows a fair bit about SS visors.

                              Al, ofcourse the plastic diamond and in general the 'manufacture' to include the leather and the painted underside of the visor!



                              In various lighting conditions you me be able to make out "Alteste...." on the diamond as the cap is a ringer for this type!
