                  Very Nice .....
Has the trap been applied after the lining has been put in ?

Hello, please help. To match the cap and the trapezoid not together? Was attached only the trapeziod to M43 cap, or even later? What is the difference between a M43 and M44 cap or later? Thanks and regards, Guido

I've only ever seen traps applied to M43 caps. Don't think they would fit any other SS cap.

                        There is no M44 cap.

There might be a case Tony,

for calling the caps the "Dachau" type with exposed card-board on the underside of the bill as an "M44" type.

Some even call the version with the printed trap an M45 and any without factory applied pull-down tabs as the M44/45.

Then again mate, what would a Kiwi or Aussie know about SS M43 caps in a world full of Gary Cooper cowboys ,

                          Chris

Do they? Well I don't have any problem with new terms to distinguish different types of items.

Calling a Dachau Panzer cap an M44 is fine as long as we all agree on it.

                              Hello Guido,

I like your cap and have added images to this thread below about them. The question however, is your example German made or is it made some where else before May 1945 like Italy or Austria ???

Also, the trap could be reapplied to this cap to look like a machine stitch ??? Then again it might be done on a sewing machine with a foot treadle,

                              Chris

Please have a read when you get time, it might help with some of your questions,

                              Chris

p.s. would it be possible to post a good image of the button holes ( if they exist ?) and some images with the flaps pulled down ?
