    Hitler bodyguard

    Hello gents,

several days ago I posted what I believe to be a interesting and somewhat rare document over on the Photos and Paper Forum. The response has me scratching my head as no one has commented, either good or bad on the item, and this has me worried that folks think the item is a fake. The paper is so delicate that I have only opened it around 13 times in the last 8 years because it tears so easily.

I started to show the document here on the SS forum, but as it is not "SS cloth" I thought the other forum more appropriate. Would some of you mind having a look and chiming in on what you think about the doc.? I was thinking about possibly putting it up for sale in the future and the lack of any response has me worried.

    Thank you,

    Marcus

Marcus, I did not notice the posting in the document section. My interest in police and party naturally leads me to those forums believing that most people post all types of subject matter in such general interest forums. Obviously I was mistaken and apologize for ignoring your extraordinarily rare document. It could be most are unfamiliar with the term Reichssicherheitsdienstes. It is not a common subject in these forums, unlike say Axis History. And if one has not read Peter Hoffmann's book, they are certainly at a disadvantage.

I guess the RSD is as unknown as Himmler's own Escort Battalion- RFSS Beglietbattalion Steiermark

It is good to see the Feldinger document again. How goes the general listing of all the agents?

Thank you for the kind words Joe. I think you are correct to suppose that many collectors are not familiar with the RSD. It was a very small organization and most are only familiar with the SS-Begleit-Kommando. Himmler's RFSS-Pol-Begleit-Kommando "Steiermark" even lesser known as you state.

I have not gleaned any new information on other agents, even after checking with Musmanno interrogation papers archive. There are gaps however, with the lists of agents. The Military Channel has shown the series "Hitler's Bodyguard" ad nauseum, and while there is some good information and film footage, the writer's had a definite bias toward the RSD for some reason.

I do have a 13 page security directive for Hitler's protection at the Summer Olympic Games in Berlin, issued by Rattenhueber's RSD-Kommando office, which lists RSD officers, but of course well before Felbinger's time. I have a few theories about Felbinger and Himmler, but I'll save that for another time perhaps. I'm still grateful for your help in translating Felbinger's document all those years ago! Do you still have the documents pertaining to the agent in charge of Goering's RSD Dienstelle 2?

      Regards,

      Marcus

Here is a photo of a member of SS-Begleit-Kommando.

Some of you may remember his ID from an older thread...
        http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...r%27s+security

Notice though that my foto is a bit larger and shows his "Alter Kaempfer Winkel" and his LAH cypher, whereas the photo on his ID is cut down to a smaller size.

The interesting thing is that on the back are two stamps, one is from the photo studio in Rastenburg near the Wolfslair HQ. Seems to be the same studio where all other photos of higher ranking officer's, RK winners and other HQ staff had their photos taken as well, usually color photos,( note the curtains in the background.)

Can anyone tell me what the larger stamp translates to?

        Regards,

        Marcus

Yes I do Marcus: KK Paul Heinecke. Here is the thread from Axis Forum on the subject from almost seven years ago. http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtop...hilit=heinecke Damn, time flies when you get older.

I am having difficulty reading all the words of the second stamp on the photo, but it seems to be notice that the photo (Lichtbild) was made for official purposes.

Krim.-K. Heinecke, of course! Thank you for refreshing my memory Joe, and you're so right about the time flying by quicker as we age.

Lichtbild is the one word that I can make out on the back of the foto, perhaps "Amtlich" and "zugelessen" but now I'm just guessing. Thanks for having a look!

              Regards,

              Marcus

Do you mean the "Amtlich zugelassenes Lichtbild" text?

"Amtlich zugelassenes Lichtbild" translates as something like "Officially approved Photo", officially being the government / law / administration agency.
The other text reads "Lichtbildner. S.nn.g für den Regierungs ... "
"Photo printers ... S.nn.g ( probably name of firm ) for the governments ..." is what I can make of it.
                  Best, Seth.
