    SS Uniform - Opinions please

What do you think about this uniform?

A friend of mine told me that is an original Heer uniform disguised as a SS uniform...

    Let me know
    Thank you

It is certainly an original tunic that appears to have been used by an SS officer,

The eagle shadow is very possibly that of a so called "Karl Wolfe" Eagle...just speculation but Ive seen a few on tunics and this shadow seems to fit that pattern.

            Thank you for your answers!

How much could value the uniform if shadows are fake?

A guy is offering this uniform to me for a trade.....

If the ghosts are real can we narrow down which unit this might have presented?

Based on the ghosts (if real, sure looks like it) the foreign volunteer shield is a BeVo type as used by the army
(not a Dachau pattern). Maybe Hrvatska Croat?
which would explain the ghost of an SS edelweiss sleeve oval! but Handschar rarely ever wore cuff titles ???
and usually used SS pattern sleeve shields. Any other theories? (Gebirgsjaeger SS related)

Unless he was a German Officer serving in the Division or with the Prinz Eugen.

                    *

It is pointless to try and work out which SS unit this tunic once was as it's clearly an artificially faded/aged army tunic.
Judging by the mint condition of the liner, dagger hanger, etc, my guess is is once was a nice minty army officer jacket that was stripped and then artificially faded/aged to decieve.
Even the fake fading is not done well with no shadows where a belt would have been worn (how many SS Officers would be going around with no belt/holster?....not many....)
As the cap guys say a lot of the time, the interior doesn't match the exterior in wear.

Value for a rooted army officer tunic? Max $500 in this condition. (and that's only because there's no trace left of where the breast eagle once was)

                    IMHO.....

Personally from the pics the ghosting looks to ME to be artificial, and the interior of the tunic, does not match the exterior in terms of use, it simply looks quite "pristine", while the rest of the tunic, if believable, saw quite a bit of use to achieve that ghosting. Just looks like something someone attempted to artificially age. There should sweat stains around the collar, the armpits, the end of the sleeves, etc. I've seen it done on DAK tunics, nothing new.

                            another giveaway

Another giveaway to the faux fading , besides the lack of a belt shadow, is that there is zero fading to the awards area on the upper left chest pocket..there are serious shadows for the EK2 ribbon and even a small ribbon bar but none where the awards were supposedly placed...lending more credibility to the consensus that this is an unissued Heer tunic "faded-up" to look like a worn and stripped SS tunic..too bad

I am not convinced from the photos the tunic is even WWII era.
