    SD tunic

Thoughts on this SD tunic? It got pulled on ebay Germany today (or auction ended early?)
    Did this one have potential?

What are your thoughts Nick? Think it might be real?

I like it more than I don't! To me it does not appear to be a post war piece now masquerading as SD...
but the tabs look fishy (crude)...don't know but the style (uniform cut) would definately work for SD.

Where is our resident SD expert WAF member g_hanson?

The cut is very strange, on the reverse of the tunic. I just do not find any tunic with which to make a comparison.

Maybe a low quality officer woolen "field use" tunic (hence the silver collar piping) ???
but restored with enlisted tabs? and eagle removed?
SD enlisted/NCO personnel did wear black/white piped cords on their green uniform collars early on,
but silver was as far as I know strictly an officer thing...Who knows?

Back panel is indeed weird Bob, I noticed that as well...foreign tailoring?Front on the other hand looks fine!
It definately does not scream East or West German... Intriguing piece!
                      Definately old and well used!

                        Tunic

If someone gave me this tunic, I would through it in the garbage after he left.

Well we have an original SD tunic in our family which was tailored in Holland and certainly not German textbook...
so you have to keep an open mind sometimes...but if you are looking for text book ...

Let me ask you this Peter; would you buy this Latvian SD tunic (with Schuma tabs??) and over-sized lapels ?
                          if offered in modern times?

                            No doubt. The cap too.

Yeah the cap is a killer item to have! Text book of course!
Btw I own a LW uniform with such over-sized lapels and for many it was a huge red flag...but not so....
                              just tailor or customer preference!
The tunic that started the thread is an odd duck and to play it safe probably better to avoid it...I agree!
On the other hand it would look good though with all the proper SD insignia stitched in place!
