Don't always discount odd looking wool all the time...
I recently learned something new thanks to WAF.

It is called "Nesselstoff" - a very low quality wool blend... Probably used
due to a shortage of good quality wool or custom ordered because it is lighter?
(like aertex material, a loosely woven cotton fabric )

More on Nesselstoff here: (I thought it was also a fake Latvian material)

The wool posted above is very different from the post War synthetic blend wool the "SS" tunic shown here is made of and is not ribbed. It was used before the War for RAD uniforms and during the War to manufacture military uniform items and insignia. I have never heard of it referred to as Nesselstoff which in German is a muslin or gauze type fabric that can be wool but usually is a lighter fabric made often with open weave. It also can refer to cheese cloth and cotton gauze.

Indeed!!! Here are some more clues...pocket details...(besides the insignia)
Odd collar construction (British battle Dress style actually with that extra step, folded flat here!)
          with hook in wrong spot!

pocket alignment is off on some original m44s, but for an m43, is odd. but look at the atrocious lining! nothing remotely resembling an m43!
