2 Blank SS Tabs

Hi guys,
I picked these both up today at a local gun show. Any problems with these? Also another question. I tried studying some threads on the difference between the blank SS tabs and the Luftwaffe engineers tabs but I'm still finding it hard to tell the difference between them. Is there any rock solid way to tell them apart if no gulls are attached?

The second one does indeed.
The first one does look like to have SS dimensions. Let's wait for others to tell if the buckram on the first one is accepted for an original or not, since it is missing the hide glue...

Could you post them both together? If the first is larger than the second example you posted, it could be non-LW.

The construction for both on them appears to be fine, in terms of originality.

Robert I am out of the area for now so I will get a side by side picture towards the end of the week. Since the first one was uniform removed, if it was luft, wouldn't there be a hole from the gull?

No. Most of the LW black ones I've seen are unissued, and there are a number of reasons why it could have been sewn on and removed, post-war.

Looking at it again, the first tab doesn't look like the LW type though. I'll bet it will be bigger than the mass of unissued engineer tabs floating around, which could make it SS, NSKK, or the like.

Finally able to take more pictures. They are the same size as each other and the same as the normal ss tab shown.

They are both Luftwaffe engineer, IMO. Possibly political / NSKK.

If you lay the rank tabs on top of the volunteer tab, you'll see it is smaller. The shiney burlap backed one is the archtypical LW type and size, and it looks like the other one is the same size.

Nice tabs, though!
