    Hello Gert,

No, this cap was never on any site before.

This is pure private collection. I just bought a large collection of badges, dirks and other insignias from a collector who passed away a few years ago.

The cap was the only “cloth” item. It was supposedly obtained (letter with the details how the cap was obtained came with the cap) in Brussels from an individual who also had a SS gruppenfuhrer car flag. This flag, which is “supposedly” 100% authentic, is already in another collection since many years.

My knowledge in cloth stopped more than 15 years ago so I might miss details, I also never had an real SS generals cap in my hands before, so I really don’t know but it certainly looks good!!….

Thanks for the update . Good thing it's not from that site !!!!
I hope for the best and keep my fingers crossed !!! If it 's a good one, you really had a 'very lucky day'

PS: If it IS a good one, will you be having a party to celebrate ??

      Kind regards,

I obtained this set this weekend accidentally together with what appears to be a genuine SS general’s cap. Personally I don’t see anything wrong with the cap nor the insignias but I am not an expert on the matter. What is the opinion of the experts on the forum? A good fake made in the 60’s or was it my lucky day??

The cap is well worn; there are very small moth holes, the usual wear and tear on the material, lots of sweat and grease on and under the sweatband.

        Help……

Well I'm certainly no expert on SS General's caps either, Marc.
In fact, I doubt that such an animal exists. However, I really
like this cap. If everything is as it appears to be (and there has
been no monkeying around swapping liners, sweatbands, etc.,
which can't be determined from these pics) then I say this
cap has a really good shot at originality. The badges are bad.

Hi Pieter, I see your yoking around again. That's a good sign.......Your in good spirtit. Better than me the past weeks!

When I say “accidentally” I mean: I was buying the collection of badges, dirks, insignias and other medals.

The cap, the set of eagle and scull came with it. Do I still have the “ feeling”?? Or am I wrong with the cap?? Badges???

I know when you come in on your socks, it's because you removed the boots and left them in the hall,....I like that attitude, ...."the modest guy"...
..."do I still have the feeling???".... do I really have to respond on this....joker!
              Best regards Pieter.

Hi Brian, The cap is exactly like on the photo, much better even, it really has the good feeling. Nice even patina all over. Not messed with in any way (in my opinion at least based on my feeling and experience of course) except for the badges, they have been removed and varnished. This was done without damaging the cap in anyway. It was done so well that I still have doubts the varnishing was not done the first time the insignias where put on the cap.

Hi Marc, I know that a lot of genuine visor caps have the eagles and skulls replaced and many times with bad ones to boost the prices. So original visor caps with reproduction insignia are often enountered. About the insignia I have my doubts.... as I never saw 800 insignia and I was told these are fakes. The caps looks good to me, but as always a hands on inspection is needed to be sure.

If think that the cap needs to be judged on it's own and forget about the skull and eagle. They could have been put on at any stage since the war.
From what I can see, I really think the cap has a lot of potential
