SS tab and Toten CUFF display question

    Hello all,

So we have all seen the Toten cuff of the 3rd Panzer - THE ONE WITH THE SKULL.

Now, did all members who wore this cuff have the skull on their collar tab as well or were there some who used the standard SS rune tab as well?

Please let me know either way. Thank you.

Hi Bill, the title is not actually for the Totenkopf Division. It is for SS Regiment "Oberbayern". Many of it's members later joined the Totenkopf Div, hence the photos of it in wear by the divisions members.

The title could be worn with SS runes collar tabs, if the soldier had previously served with the Regiment and his new unit did not have a cuff title of it's own.

      Hope this helps?

      Cheers, Ade.

Ade is correct in what he has said above, the books state that the former members of that TV regiment continued to wear that title within the Totenkopf division in a lot of cases.

I do think though in some cases it was preferred by individual soldiers who had not seen service in that pre war rgt, for an example a former tk vet i know who served in the flak had one of these titles, in his case he used to remove the worded "Totenkopf" cuff title and replace it with the emblem example when he used to go on leave, he also said others in his unit did the same, non had seen service in the pre war TV rgt.
        cheers,
        Gary

          Hello all,

How much do the Oberbayern cufftitles go for? Please let me know either way. Thank you.

            William,
This type of cuff title is not offered that often, and it is a scarce cuff title, so price should not be the main issue, if you see one and want one then grab it.
            cheers,
            Gary

I have sold two in the past year, a flatwire and a bullion, and got around $3,000 ea,

They do not come up for sale very often, as Gary said, so start saving up your spare cash
