                  another...

Originally when I posted this one there were concerns by some here that the numbers were too high, which is non founded to say the least, as ss numbers ran much higher, so yours is no problem. The scratchy frontal appearance is just part of this style stick pin, and is what one expects to generally see. Even the one I just added to the thread doesnt have the most pristine enameling, but then again close up photos show more than sometimes the naked eye sees when in wear. I now hope you can attribute yours to a name. So far I have found numbers in this range, but not for mine. Does your pin have the helix on it, as it is not shown in the photo? (the helix keeps the pin from coming loose from the material it is stuck through)

The concerns regarding numbers being too high had nothing to do with the SS membership numbers being too high. The number on the SS civil membership pin is not an SS membership number. The concerns voiced by those who have studied the documentation of the SS-Zivil Abzeichen comes from the fact that there is correspondance between Berger and Himmler's office in 1944 indicating production totals for the standard badge shown above at 176 500. And production was terminated for the rest of the war. It is a confusing point which has not been settled.
