    SS Tropenhelm for review.

    Hello guys,

i'm thinking of selling this item in the future
What do you think of it?
Helmet is from maker JHS dated 1942.
Decals are also marked with 'JFS 42'
I bought it from a very old guy who had the helmet in his posession since 1952.
What is the value of this helmet?

    Greetings

I think the pith are good. But I'd like to see other members opinions.

Pith is a nice army one not sure about insignia.

              I don't like the insignia.
IMHO the runes are not as sharp in detail as accepted originals I've seen.

                Replaced insignia.

See attached photo with arrows showing where Party Shield replaced Heer Eagle.

Wrong pattern of helmet and I do not like the shields.

                      Agree, shields are fake.

The shields are the F.P. 1942 shields. These have been around for many years and are said to be reproductions, on the good side these shields are very hard to find even as reproductions. Look at some old posts on ss pith shields and you will see them easy to tell. I posed pictures years ago they should still be there.

The old fake shields are easy to sell, because crooks like to do exactly what this guy did and put them on a cheap Heer pith to try to make a quick profit at the expense of a novice buyer.

I wouldn't call it a quick profit because i payed it 50€. Still a good deal for an original helmet. Before i bought it i saw info about these 'JHS' helmets and this one matched an original. About the decals i didn't know anything so that was a risk. But you can't be screwed for 50€.
