SS officer tabs with back stitching

    All,
I cant post pics, but I have what I believe is a genuine bullion rune tab. It has black thread tacking on the reverse all the way around near the edge as if to help hold down the folds which is normally accomplished by the glue on the buckram. Is this commonly seen?
    Thanks,

    CB

1086 posts, and you cant post pictures?? Use a hosting site, it is easy, and not certainly beyond your abilitys...it is also free. (try photobucket)

Do not use a hosting site... Please pay the USD 25 membership fee and post along for a year

External hosting sites should be banned... photos are not uploaded here and might disappear...

          Cheers

It is generally not a good sign. Backing typically hides something the fakers don't want seen.

The glued buckram or other backing holds the folds well enough, by design - remember that the backing attached to the folds was intended to be the collar.

Thanks to David for posting the pics for me! As can be seen, the runes have a little corrosion on them, but are otherwise unused. Hoping they meet with approval...

Where is the suspicious black stitching? Am I missing something in those photos?

Sorry, I did not post the pic of the reverse of the one tab with the tacking. It is just light hand tacking widely space around the edge of the rear as if to hold in place temporarily.
                            Thanks all for your responses!
