I just picked these up today - Are they original SS boards ???

I just picked these up today from a "picker".

Are they original SS boards ?? or are they just something else??

    Notes:
The Heer artillery board is shown, just for size comparison.
The black lines on the silver tress, is just black thread coming through as the tress is separating.

They must be complete junk since they are not worth any responses

Perhaps it's just that people are afraid of expressing an opinion on them. Personally I have never seen an SS strap with the black flecks in the cords ...

Yes Nick, I don't recall seeing black in the cords themselves.

The black is the cord separating. The cord is way loose on these.

                SS shoulder boards?

Looking at the boards does it not seem that the back straps are a bit thin or narrow for an actual WW2 SS shoulderboard? They are the width of an EG/NVA shoulderboard though I give him that they are quite thick.I really am unable to authenticate but there are many factors to consider here.
                thanks for just listening.
                Regards,
                Paul

I don´t like them and I don´t think, that they are original.

My concern is the material used for the waffenfarben... looks too loose. I would pass on them if offered as SS boards.

Truth is they ARE ss police boards(I believe communications) , but they have been allowed to be kept in a trunk where bugs got in and ate the threads off the bullion over the years , Thread being made of material they enjoy eating. Remnants are still visible, and they are originals, if you look on the other side by pulling them up a little , you will see the threads still intact underneath . Too bad nobody repairs this kind of damage. Good find....and congrats to your picker, take the man to taco bell for lunch.

I sure like juoneen's opinion and I'll take my picker to Taco Bell for sure, just in case. they are real. If they are not, it's no big loss, but I'd like to be sure either way.

I'll keep doing research on them.

Here is a set almost identical to mine that are for sale on Oakleaf Militaria. I’m assuming his are good, but I’m no expert on these, and I‘m basing that on his reputation.

They appear to be sewn the same, and the same size. Only the piping is a different color, and his are in better condition.

                            Shoulderboards

                            As to these Sturmbahnfuhrur SB's,
Well ,they could also be engineer army Majors boards for the wehrmacht since black piping indicates Pioneer. The yellow I just do not know for sure.Backing and piping wouldn't that be a possible engineer SB/
What do the rest of you think? They obviously have never had any pips in the boards at all as there are no perf 's anywhere on these boards (on the backside).Hmmm.

That would be a VERY dangerous thing to do .... based on his reputation.
