Helmets I donĀ“t know much about.

The cover looks artificially aged to me.

      Thanks for all the comments.

Ludwig - it may well be that my photos do not do it justice, and I apologise. I ended up using flash and it has distorted the colours a fair amount.

If you would like to elaborate, please feel free to do so.

Meanwhile, here are a few more shots of it that are way better than mine.

The helmet is super! One looker, with history.
Helmet cover looks good and fine, but after recently receiving a false helmet cover, I'm paranoid for image evaluation. Do you have a close up of the clips?
                    Cheers

                        Hello CPB.

I wonder if he was injured in Nijmegan which is why he lost his helmet? I can't think why else he would be without it.

Anyway, a great piece to own and some real luck (or hard work) on getting information on him.

                        Regards,
                        Chris.

                          Hey Chris

I suspect he probably was injured, or displaced from his position - hence leaving his helmet behind. Pure supposition of course. But it kind of makes sense. KG Euling were hit hard by the 82nd Airborne and the stragglers had to escape in the clothes they stood up in. It would have been great to know for sure but, like I said, he died just recently. Of course, his family may know more but I don't know how to reach them. Or where they live for that matter.

It would be great to see if Euling himself has any memory of the survivors but I fear getting hold of him will be near impossible.

Cheers [and thanks for all the other comments, it means a lot].

                          Chris
