    SS armband question, help please

Armbands are a brand new area to me. I've never owned one, and seen just a couple at shows. This weekend a friend told me he bought an armband off of eBay and my first thought was, he got burned. Since he has bought it he has had it 'authenticated' by two sources that I have never heard of before. So here I am, doing some research for him. All I have so far is a photo (mine) of the photo he showed me from the eBay auction page. He's bringing the armband to me this coming weekend for better photos to post here.

My obvious question is, did this style armband exist, or is this one of those 'fantasy' items. The initials are 'FM'. It is green in color. It was sold as being an armband designated to Hitler's own bodyguard group. I know there is not much to go on until I get some good shots of the runes and cloth weave, but what do you think? Might there be something here?

    Thanks,
    Robert

    Hi Robert,

IMO this is a fantasy item!

I saw this on EBay a few weeks ago. No need for better photos. Unfortunately, it is 100% FAKE (from the 1970's). It is based on the SS FM (financial supporters) design, but they never had armbands like this.

Your friend should send it back if he still can.

It could have been worse. He could have bought this one for $15K: http://www.raremilitaria.com/ssalbum_001.htm

I don't think so and I hope no one does. It's been there for over a year at least. I just get a good laugh by visiting that page every few months. I can't seem to find the pic with the armband's SS tag with the wrong # of digits.

I've been thinking of sending in my SS FM chip clip (I think it makes a good combo with the letter opener) for their "appraisal " service.

How much for the chip clip?
It must be the from same manufacturer as the letter opener.
                  LOL
