Nothing proves these are authentic or inauthentic so far.
But the England origin=fakes hypotheses is wearing thin.
So this one was found in Germany, that makes by my reckoning 4 out of Northern Europe and NOT from England. 2 from the Netherlands as mentioned by members years back now and RD Rygaard's friend who found a ruined one buried in Germany.
So 4 accounted from within Germany or the Netherlands.
This is whittling away at the argument that as England had all or most of them that in itself proves something-one way or the other.

Great grouping klaus of a man and wife's story , very interesting!
Maybe the box is original to the grouping - can you dismis this as proof?

The box is original to the grouping and I have no proof for it. Sometimes things just make sense.
The antiques dealer did know he had an SS grouping of course but he did not value the "crafted wooden box" as we probably would. He is not on the internet and he is not involved in our hobby. He deals with other things but people bring militaria from time to time.
So it makes no sense to this man buys this box somewhere to add it to the grouping for nothing.

I'm beginning to believe in these just because of circumstantial evidence. But I still can't tell how to tell an original from a possible copy, based on there being no books or agreed upon original example to work from. I don't see a reason why someone would produce any boxes post war, except to copy an original.
