    Ss officer"s leather belt

    Hi friends!

Any opinions, the stamp of the original or fake?

I never like heavily inprinted stamps but of course everything is possible

            compare

            with original example:

Thanks for taking the trouble to add some examples and giving your reasons,
and I agree normally the markings do get very faint, however I believe in taking a view of the whole item, the belt is well constructed and of the quality
you expect to see for an SS officer belt, the RZM coding seems correct with an 'L' prefix etc. I would like to see further comment on the authenticity of the markings, I must admit I am lazy at research on occasions

I can't see it on the picture, but you can take a look at those markings under magnification. I usually try to see the pattern of the cracks in the leather in the vicinity of the marks. In most cases that can tell you what happened first: stamp indentation or crack.
In originals some cracks usually stop at the mark indentation, since its presence prevents crack growth. Not all of them, but some for sure. If present inside mark grooves, cracks will look different than on the surface.
In case of fake when stamp is applied on old already cracked leather, cracks will be only pressed down and will show no impact on their development caused by the stamped mark.

This is the stamp of the manufacturer?

Your guess is as good as anybody else's. Below is original for sure (also 44 dated; note diiferent font). Can you post more pictures of the belt itself (front)?
