Hello! I'm glad I was accepted to the forum. From what I have seen you have helped others with the questions I have about a very exciting find my Father and I found recently. My father is a big collector of war militaria and has been since he was a kid. My father has a Wehrmacht tunic he purchased a few years back. Just yesterday he came across a hard object jammed in the seam of the breast pocket which turned out to be a Totenkopfring! Excited by the find I started researching it. the engraving on the inside is a bit weathered and the ring was cut right at the "day" engraving and the name of the soldier is very hard to make out but what is easy to tell is it was issued in 08(August).1940 and H. Himmler is very easy to make out. The skull and exterior of the ring is in good shape.
So I am hoping to identify the soldier it was presented to and hopefully get some identification records for proof. Also hopefully find out how it made it's way into a Wehrmacht Tunic and why it was cut off.
Anyone that can point me in the direction to help answer some of these quesions would be greatly appreciated. I understand that Don Boyle is go to guy for this ring and if anyone knows how I would get in contact with him would be a great help.
My Father and I are very excited to find out more about our new find.
Thanks in advance!
