SS visor variants on skulls and eagles!

I have see some original SS visors
with army eagles,Political eagles and such
and these came from vets!

I understand there was a variant on why
the wearer had them on visor!

Seems the early ones were found more so!

Any one have pics of them found like this!

I will post a few pics I have of them found
over the years!

I read in books that it was in a lot of cases put down to individual preference, this might very well be the case, but also a factor i think is availability of the correct pattern for what ever reason, you only have to look at wartime pictures to see pictured an array of different type of eagles in wear each would tell a story no doubt,

Sorry Paul, I never bought an SS item with a Heer eagle on it, just
Heer items with SS eagles on them!

Seriously, though, many SS men wore Heer cap eagles or sleeve
eagles to show their prior affiliation with that branch of the service.
Sepp Dietrich is the most notable. Even Himmler who was generally
a stickler when it came to his own regulations, wore one on his
'Vistula' crusher. Probably to try to copy Sepp's charisma more than
anything, though.

Further down in the ranks, though, it was probably more a supply
problem than anything. Especially in the foreign units. Italians for
example.

Yes, that's a beautiful cap Paul! And an entirely plausible
configuration. The A-SS were, afterall, a political organization.
Then again, the eagle could be simply a postwar replacement
for a missing one. It may have happened 50 years ago or 5.
It happens all the time. Go with your gut feelings.

Here is a beautifull SS visor I got from
vet many rears ago!

I also got SS cuff title Reichsfuhrung
title!

I remember the late great Daryl Williams
buying the cuff title!

He was early SS cloth collector and nice guy for us collectors!

What a collection! Anybody remember him!


This was a great visor!

Vet got rid of complete uniform in beer joint in Cleveland but I got these items!

Also some knuckles marked Flossenburg!

This political eagle is so tight I know its been on since the war!

Bought it for $500.00.

The vet would have no way of doing it right with out screwing it up!

If you saw in person you would agree!

I asked a few other top SS guys and they agreed do not remove this eagle for its a early variant!

Just some collectors like the regular eagles but this is the way it should be left!

I know I've seen a few period photos with different eagles on Allg. SS caps, but I suspect this one may have been replaced, although possibly, as noted 50 years ago.
This pattern of political eagle was not introduced until 1937-38, which would tie in to the date of the cap, however, at that point, there was no shortage of insignia, no transportation or supply problems, no reason for an enlisted man or NCO to 'buck the system', and the correct insignia was certainly available in quantity. I think it's more likely that an earlier cap (as pictured with the sleeveband) would have a non regulation eagle than the later type.
But, no one will ever be able to tell for sure, if there are no extra holes under the political eagle.
