One thing I don't get is this:
Herbert Lange was promoted SS-Sturmbannführer on 1-10-1944, after he aided in catching the conspirators of the attempt on Hitler's life as stated in this document:

My book was signed December (Jul) 1943 by Lange with rank SS-Sturmbannführer...
So was my book signed by Herbert Lange or was there another Lange?

This document shows in point 5 that there was a SS-Sturmbannführer Lange at the SS-Standortkommadantur Lublin some months before December 1943. But was it Herbert, since he would have had rank SS-Hauptsturmführer?

Could it be it was Herbert Lange, but with a temporally promotion pure for service on the standort?

Is there a signature of Herbert Lange that we can compare with the one from the book?
