    M44 Tunic with Re-applied Insignia

While the insignia on this tunic has been re-applied (IMO), the tunic itself is a good example of an SS type. I am posting it to add to our collection of SS M44 photos.

These things varied so much in material and cut that it's a good idea to put them out there.

    regards, Robert

Notice that weird mottled bias binding in the armpit - this stuff is seen on the printed insignia-type M43 single button cap pulldown straps. It is also featured in the unissued SS M44 that Bill Shea had for sale, published in Beaver's book.

It is distinctive material to look for, along with Italian wool and HBT liner materials (which were used on more than just SS items, of course).

            very nice. Definitely textbook.

Wow, it is pretty small for the looks of it and size markings. Is that correct?

Just wondering, alsolso are the slip ons for the boards original attached? I saw some m44's that had none at all.

Thanks fellows. There are common features on these that distinguish them from their army counterparts, and I hope this helps.

This tunic has replaced boards, I'm sure, just like the rest of the insignia. Jerry, I think it is small.

                      regards, Robert
