Further the leaf bend is not shaped either as it should be, buckram looks somehow strange for this rank of tab as well.
Not sure when those appiered but those are well known and also to find here discussed. I am sure many other cloth collectors agree on this matter as well that this one is not ok. Those are also to find on put together phony tunics over the past.

SS Gruppenfuhrer collar patch of Craig's
To Robert and ian -- I must apologize to the two of you AND to
Craig regarding my evaluation of his SS Gruppenfuhrer tab.
It was all a mistake, and must agree with Ian and Bob re:
the originality of this piece. There was a mixup. Craig had
sent pics of the pair of SS Oberst tabs and straps that he had recently obtained, and since I had taken receipt of both
of these at the same time, I actually was referring to the
genuiness of the SS Oberst tabs and NOT the SS Gruppenfuhrer tab. I have contacted Craig and apologized to him as well. Sorry for the mixup, but when in error, one must admit it. I apologize to all for this mixup. Dave Delich

Everyone likes to see me with my pants down and an occasional egg . I saw this at the Alexander Auction and, since it was just a few lots away from the things I was bidding on, I saved the pics and emailed to Dave, who got back to me in about 3 minutes. When I saw the "yep, it's fine" I bid on it. However, I will not be buying it, after the reviews, and yes, after taking a close look at it for the first time. I guess post first (or bid first), ask questions later is not the best way to go! And no need to apologize, Dave. You've taught me a lot over the years, and I'm grateful for your help. You've helped save me from some mistakes, confirmed when I got it right, and have been an all around good friend.

Actually the pointed stems are not a character flaw. The pair that a collector I know belonged to SS-Obergruppenfuhrer Karl Demelhuber. There was an entire grouping of uniforms and insignia purchased directly from the general and the inventory sheet is signed by Demelhuber. You need to look more at the leaves --- the edges and the tips, not the stems.
