I would be curious as to how the senior SS collectors felt too..

It is a bit quiet, but the trap looks like an accepted original pattern

                  cheers,

                  Gary

                    Hi gary,

                    Thanks for your answer.

This is an original cap which was purchased from Peter v Lukacs.

I will be selling this cap in the E stand because I need some money for a new aquisition.

                    Thanks and best regards,

                    Rene

I am no expert, I have had maybe 2 SS M43 in my whole life so there are folks much better qualified to answer.... my gut feeling would be to leave this one. I cant tell you why, but to me it is just not "right" somehow.

I'm with Chris on this one....I've got this feeling that there's something definitely not quite right with this cap !We're not slamming your cap mind you, we're giving you our opinion, and,as usual, I'd be more than happy to be proved wrong for it would mean that the piece is 100% legit and that its owner would be happy in return!

                          Dear All,

I know and agree that when you put something on the forum you get reactions from people. So far no problem.

But when people are reacting by i am not an expert but my gut feeling says...i quitte.

When I have not the knowledge about a subject I say nothing and try to learn.

This cap is from Peter v Lukacs, some experts stated the cap is OK.

So please tell us why the cap is not good.

I know i agreed this type of trap is faked a manytime, but still there are differences between an original and a faked one.

Bob Hritz showed us some nice originals on the other forum.

                          Thanks and best regards,

                          Rene

You asked for opinions... you got em.

I dont know how long you have been collecting, maybe longer than me, maybe less, but please... if you have found a way to plug into an item and read if it is good or not.. share the secret!

I have had and handled a lot of uniforms and headgear, admittedly only a couple of M43 SS but enough stuff ingeneral to have a gut feeling I trust.

What do you want? me to turn up a corner and show you a "made in Taiwan" label? Photos of Piotor making this very hat? Its not going to happen Rene, and the days when you could tell good from bad by saying "look at this quality! It must be good..." are long gone.

When I go to a show and pic up a M43.. you seldom find reworked Bundeswehr cap with nylon threads, although there was a time when fakes were that bad and folks fell for them.... nowdays you find superb fakes, with no 100% dead give away points that you can say "look... nylon threads and polyester liner"... there are many things nowdays where some subconcious bell rings and makes you say... "somehow this piece just aint "RIGHT"" as this one does for me.

Its your hat, enjoy it. If someone feels it IS "right" good for him, he is spending his money, not mine.

""Please let me know what your opinion is on this one?""

There you go, you got mine.

There's nothing I can add to what Chris has just written in its post, since that would have exactly been what I'd written myself!
Today's repros are scaring to say the least, so please find herewith enclosed the link to a thread about one of these fakes;it'll help you understand why older collectors rarely go by the book, preferring to pay attention to their feeling and sixth sense!

I'll tell you again my friend, none of us would ever dream to slam a piece belonging to a fellow member, but I'll echo what Chris has said....you've asked for opinions;here's mine!
