    Strange SS Sidecap. Dutch? Flemish?

This strange sidecap comes straight out of an old collection. If possible i would appreciate some opinions from more advanced cloth collectors than myself.

At first i thought it was total rubbish, but the eagle appears to be a good one and this confuses me. I wonder what this cap is, or is supposed to be? Am i overlooking some obscure SS group perhaps? The former owner told it comes originally from the Netherlands (maybe Belgium), but i have never seen such a cap? Is there even a chance such a cap existed? It seems too strange to me that original eagles were used on fake caps with such a diverging shape?

    Thanks for looking,
    regards Gaston

I vote Belgian made "Germanic SS Flanders" (Germaanse SS Vlaanderen)
Needs a button on the front!

Could be (in Flanders)... Its a longshot but the bird appears to be good. Why stitch a good eagle on a bad cap?
Sometimes these overseas caps were seen with SS eagle instead of the Flemish style metal Swastika which was the norm
(the latter also worn on the front of the Germaansche SS Vlaanderen pattern visor).
Maybe some Flemish members can chime in!

I would have to agree with Ben.

                            Dutch,

Typical pre 1940 Dutch inner cloth.
Found in many dutch uniform/ headgear before WW2.

                            Regards,
                            Ron
