[QUOTE=Michael Fay;5398046]good point, in regards to non runic shaped SS, I have a few early 30's SS documents :i.e. SS Ahnentafeln that have these EXACT same flowing SS type.

    Michael
Thanks for the comments! Are the early style documents anything you could post for comparison? If not, I understand. I know there are times when people prefer not to post their rare items for fear of them being copied.

Unfortunately the USPS did not come through for me today. Tomorrow is a new day! I hope to be able to post good scans for all of you soon so that you can make a better determination.

If you still have your silver pin it will be a nice set

Just courious,, do you have your FM donation book left? Could you see if the first page has the same text written as your letter,,,

I wonder if the word Ehrennadel is mentioned in the book..

maybe some other member could show a picture of the FM donation book.

        Cheers
        Emil

I had forgotten in my earlier post to include a link to an earlier thread on the Ehrennadel d. FM. Here it is.
          http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ght=ehrennadel

I don't know if the Ehrennadel is included in the FM membership books, as those usually contained the number of the regular FM Abzeichen, like the one shown here.

First, I have to agree with Joe on the cultural significance here. While this is a beautiful and rare SS piece, I would refute the claim that it is of cultural significance. Thorston, you explicitly warrant your claim that it is a cultural piece, by saying, "Without the personal and financial support of the Fördernde Mitglieder the SS would have definitely NOT been able to realize and carry on with many cultural projects all the way...Without the engagement of certain FM individuals there would have been no Allach porcelain". Just because the SS FM MAY have provided fiscal support for cultural activities (which I would not wholly support), that does not make the FM a cultural organization. Furthermore, you warrant your claim by noting that Himmler took great care in creating and maintaining the FM organization and the many members happily gave money. Both of which are also completely irrelevant to whether or not this is a cultural piece.

With that said: I WOULDN'T KICK IT OUT OF BED

With the date, the document also give the year when the FM Ehrennädel came into use, no? Or was this information known before?

              Regards, Wim

I think we can agree that the Nadel itself is an SS cultural piece.

And so is the belonging document which is a citation by the way.

I think it is quite clear some of us don't agree. And yes I was aware as a German speaker.

PEB, your Urkunde is a very nice piece. Congradulations.

Wim, the date and purpose of the Ehrennadel has been discussed several times before by me on this forum. I posted one of the discussions above. Here is another from 2003: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...ight=FM&page=2

Red Baron my friend, give it up. It's like arguing with a brick wall.

Zozole, there is no mention of the Ehrennadel in the FM membership book. It is quite a simple affair.

It´s worse - a brick wall is quiet at least.
