    SS 'Fördernde Mitglieder Document

    Alright guys

I have been waiting for this to come in the mail and it looks like it will be here tomorrow per the tracking number.

Has anyone ever seen one of these before? It was a first for me.

Photo was provided by a friend on the forum who was also kind enough to put me in contact with the owner of the item.

Any info or comments are much appreciated!

Amazing. Neat to see small variations like the use of SS instead of the runic SS in "Reichsführer SS".

Furthermore, this would be a great partner to a sword document, julleuchter document and ring document that all seem to be the right format.......Im sure it will find some friends eventually.

The silence is frightening! Did I mess up and buy an expensive piece of toilet paper?

It is probably because hardly anybody has ever seen one - until now.

          Fine SS cultural piece!

                Hi Guys
                Thanks for the comments.

Is this unheard of or does it happen occasionally that an item will come out of the woodwork that is new to the collecting community? I'm sure it could happen, I just find it hard to believe with all of the combined knowledge that represents itself here on the forum.

I had a few people look at it beforehand, but to be fair it was just the photos I received prior to the purchase. I know it is extremely difficult to give an item one's blessing based off of photos as opposed to scans of the actual item.

I think it will arrive today. As soon as I receive it I will post high resolution scans to aid in authentication or giving it the dreaded

                Paul

Slow reaction is IMO because of the fact that it is not known by many collectors. I also saw it never before and assume it's very rare . It's just a letter; I wonder how many would have been trowing away after reading back then

                  Regards, Wim

That's an interesting point Wim. To be quite honest, I feel very comfortable with the authenticity of the item based on who told me about it originally and the comments I received from some of my collector friends who looked at it.

My only cause for skepticism is that it may be not known through the collecting community. With all of the enthusiasm that so many have in Third Reich related items, especially SS, that something could show up that has not been really seen before baffles me. But hey, i'm just a newbie!

If it turns out to be a rare find, good for me. If not, it will be another lesson learned. We've all had our fair share!

I don' quite see the SS Cultural aspects of it, but that is besides the point.

The photo is difficult to make out for me, but I believe you have a scarce presentation document dated 1935 given along with the Ehrennadel (Honor Pin) to those special early members of the FM. In other threads on this subject, the creation of the Ehrennadel by Himmler's authorization has been discussed at length. Here is one of the thread in which the pins were dicussed. Nice acquisition.

It is an SS cultural piece - it amazes me how that can be questioned at all.

                        Furthermore:

Without the personal and financial support of the Fördernde Mitglieder the SS would have definitely NOT been able to realize and carry on with many cultural projects all the way.

Without the engagement of certain FM individuals there would have been no Allach porcelain.

Of course it can be questioned since your statements are pure conjecture. There is no way of establishing the specific use of the FM funds collected on the local (Sturm) level. The FM was a pure money grubbing scam established by Himmler to help his operational expenses.

                            There was no scam.

One can clearly still realize today by looking into the docs how much money was given to the SS in each year - many germans happily supported the SS (some just did not want to do it too officially before Hitler was elected) because they were sick of the huge scams that went on with their hard earned money and monetary values BEFORE 1933.

Himmler, as he was by nature a very talented and serious organizer, did take great care about the FM-organization - heck, they even had their own monthly journal and other exclusive events.

good point, in regards to non runic shaped SS, I have a few early 30's SS documents :i.e. SS Ahnentafeln that have these EXACT same flowing SS type.

PEB, as far as my experience goes with SS documents (and not having it in hand), I see no red-flags for this item-it appears good to me.
