I hope they will chip in... Seeland (Sj******230;lland) is the region of Denmark where Copenhagen is located and the other two helmets were also found on Sj******230;lland so it imo this helmet is very plausible.

On an M35, M40 yes, but on an M42 ?

Most DD M42's i have seen are SS Combat Police Helms, and the decals are not applied in this cofiguration

The decals appear to be real Pochers. That said my opinion is they were postwar applied based upon the availability of these decals postwar, the very sloppy decal placement, the flaking of the decals especially the runic decal points to adhesion not wear issues, the way the party decal appears to have pulled apart in some areas (look between the 9 and 12 o clock area) and the condition under the decal matches exactly the rest of the helmet.

Regarding the links I the first one clearly shows a fake helmet and the period pics do not appear to be M42s. The second link is a far more convincing helmet to me. I'm with Peter, if we haven't seen it before doesn't mean they don't exist. I would expect a DD M42 to be field applied Pochers of a foreign unit like this second helmet appears to be, most were former police helmets and the Pocher applied overtop the police decal like Totenhead says, thus being a reverse decal. Lot number is important in this discussion of ckl M42s as well.

I have no doubt DD SS M42 exist, I'd just have a very high standard and expectations to hold it to given how easy it is to jazz up a no decal M42.

              Cheers
              Doug

Original M-42 helmet, decals were applied at a later date than the helmet itself, cuff title is original

Sorry guys, when I said i had not seen one before I did not mean they did not exist, more the fact I had never seen an M42 with decals applied in this configuration, i should have expanded on my comments !!

I agree with Doug, looks to be real decals applied post-war.
