A very nice altered M42 - lovely sleeveband and straps! Looks perhaps to have been shortened, lower pockets sewn down, false pleats added to chest pockets, sleeves lengthened. Many thanks for posting.Last edited by Mike Davis; 07-13-2012, 02:30 PM.

Very neat! An M42 (scalloped pocket flaps) with added (fake) pocket pleats on the chests as commented already. Interesting that this mid-war pattern tunic has a relatively late 1944 date stamp. (or is it an M43 with altered flaps?)
Also neat are the LW style tresse on the collar. The officer candidate double tresse on the officer's candidate school straps (with embroidered cyphers, not metal, so enlisted upgrade w/NCO tresse) are even wilder. Might not even be a German pattern tresse or para- military origin?
Great stuff!
I wonder if the owner can be researched, based on 1944 Bad Toltz records of Norwegian officer candidates. So possibly an SS Skijaegerbataljon Norge veteran who transfered to Wiking (killer CT btw) and retained his edelweiss insignia which they were allowed to wear as ski-jaegers while serving under 6th SS Gebirgjagerdivision Nord. Correct?
