                Michel,
your cap is nothing like an issue cap, and is not like any of the so called field made ss caps i have seen, the camouflage is original, but when the cap was made is anybody's guess, my opinion would be post war
                cheers,
                Gary

Im in agreement that the camo looks good but it could have been put together during the 60s 70s or earlier. It is just too hard to date. You will be able to find a buyer for it though. I dont think it would sit around as it a nice looking cap.

In general field made items are harder to move because while it is always possible to determine authenticity of material they could have been made yesterday with period thread and material.

                      Hello All,
Thank you for your comments, others are welcome...
As you know, the SS and the WH are not my speciality but I have buying a part of a very very old collection (you can see some tunics for sale on the E-Stand), all the items are originals and untouched since the end of war...
This is a problem for me before to sell it, original field made or very very old fake ???????
What is the value for this cap ?
                      Thank you,
                      Michel

                        Michel,
Sorry,I would still go with post-war made, for a start the sewing is terrible, company tailors for example were skilled craftsmen, also another thing i do not like about the stitching is the way the cloth has burst around the threads where it enters the cloth, duck cotton gets somewhat brittle with age and this tends to be the result, i see this problem on a lot of post war fake items made with original cloth, and again the stitching looks like the tensions are all off as well

The scallop front reminds me of the old Austrian fakes but i do not think this is from that source as they were better made.
                        cheers,
                        Gary
