Sorry Robin, this a well known fake! The tunic is made by Janke by the way.

Amazing picture Robin! I wonder how many people have thrown this eagle away thinking it was a fake...

NOW this is an excellent photo Robin...who would think this is an original eagle if it was for sale somewhere. It would take a very brave and fully experianced collector to own such eagle...I would guess

        Regards,
        Tony

            Hello Robin,

That eagle appears identical to that on the tunic of Hauptsturmfuhrer Dr. Hans Kirchner (LAH) - illustrated in Beaver Vol.1 pgs 270-272. Kirchner, a medical officer, was killed in action in Russia in late 1943 and his tunic is now in the possession of a noted collector.

            Regards,

            Mike

              Speaking Of Odd Eagles

Here is an odd one I have had for some years, really like the look and construction, the standard off eagle shown for size

Here is one that was on one of my tunics and can be seen in photos in Agte's book on Peiper and also was worn on one of Otto Weidinger's tunics.

I think this style of eagle may have been produced in Belgium or Holland...
