    The 'Caring Policeman' Image........

.......must have taken a bit of a dent when those attending the G8 summit last year saw what badge the cops were wearing on the back of their riot helmets......

You know with all the hysteria in Germany regarding their past this Polizei member could lose his job... but I understand some of them feel pride in their past.

Everybody can try to make a bad picture from anything, perhaps the media or the news. I don´t care for all this, and I know how it goes.

Its not a German cop with the skull on his helmet.

          All the best

The G8 Summit was in Evian, France, last year. So the inference from the German article is that these are French police officers wearing the TK, not German police.

                Robert.

I agree totally. I know what it feels like to be on the receiving end.

I think these guys are CRS, that means (I think) "Compagnies Républiquaines de Sécurité". Sort of reminds me of Schutz Stafeln...

The Skull is still very popular,I just found this picture of a Danish armoured car,the photo was taken by a friend of mine when he was during service in Kosovo a couple of years ago.

                    Cheers

Over all it isn´t new, the skull has worldwide tradition over hundreds of years. Sometimes in that design sometimes in another one and that will go forward for more many 100+ years.

Robert is right, the Prussian Hussars used them as well in the war against Napoleon.
