    Allach Coloured Amsel No. 33

Did any member of the WAF get this very rare piece in a recent German auction?
I'm afraid I only have images of the eunderside of the base, and one of the tail feathers. Unusually, it had a gold rim round the base (I think it was gold rather than the yellow colour sometimes seen), and have not seen that on any other Allach figure.
Any comments on this figure would be appreciated.

Offered without any limit price as LOT 1720 and sold for 2200 Euros within the 11th auction of Auktionshaus Franke on 27th of April this year.

        Catalogue description as:

        "Allach - Figur
        1. H. 20. Jh., gem., Entw. A. Röhring, Drossel auf vegetab. gestaltetem Sockel, polychr. bemalt, Goldrand, Schnabel u. Schwanzfedern min. besch., H 24cm."

Interestingly enough: offered within that description as "Drossel" = thrush - and painted as such! - nonetheless Allach Nr. 33 clearly is an Amsel = blackbird.

        Conclusion:

An original Allach Nr. 33 Amsel/blackbird in white received recently a paint job and morphs into a very rare painted Allach Nr. 33 Drossel/thrush.

We have already recently been witnesses of a white Allach Nr. 111 morphing into a very rare painted Allach Nr. 111 and now this is the second obvious case - surprise, surprise!

        Still any questions, gentlemen?

Let us wait and see if and who as a "professional" dealer will perhaps offer this piece in the near future online.

I have to say the pant job looks outstanding, the change in bird-type notwithstanding!
What about the gold rim...is that an embellishment too far?

Since the Nr. 33 is literally an early bird within Allach production range it would not be impossible or out of reality.

Anything apart from the golden rim is surely out of reality here anyway.

No professional dealer is offering that thing, looks like its been painted by Maaco.

Not yet - it first needs to get paid, shipped and pictured.

Not the first time this has occured - and I bet it won´t be the last.

Its horrible, not sure who would offer that pig. Looks like a Pheasant with some kind of disease.

Actually the paint job seems to be remarkably good - that must have fooeld quite some bidders.

Otherwise how could it be explained that it went from 0 to 2200 Euros plus fees?

There was also a coloured Moriske (Mohr) recently sold in Ebay that went for more than 3800 Euros - might very well be from the same source.

I can explain it in one word " Darwin ". As far as the price go's it went for right about what a white example would sell for and not sure how foolish it was as the guy could dip it in a bucket of chemicals and have a white Amsel. Not sure what paint job your looking at, but its far from good.

No shortage of stupidity in the market or in general.

Spot on - also a bad egg in my book.

Although the pics are (intentionally) not too good just look at the outward appearance of the brown in the face and hands, dull and too thick so to speak, not fine lines and not noble and classy.

I assume as long as these sell for good money we´ll see more of these in the near future.
