Curious about these pocket calendars, I know it's a good sign it has the original map inside. How rare are these, were they issued to all Waffen troops or only a select few higher ranking? Thoughts on this one?

Hi,
from all the SS-Soldantenfreunde (also done for the Luftwaffe and the Heer) available, the 1944 edition (released in late 1943) is the most common one.
You can find it "used" or "mint" (without any entry in it) quite "easily".
I don't know if it was a gift for every soldier, more probably it was available for purchase at the mess...
The current value is between 100 and 200 Euros, depending on the condition (silver runes, map, used cover...).
This is a great item, at least if you are a "SS-fetichist" (from clothes to documents) you need to have one
Other editions were made for the years 1942 (released in late 1941), 1943 (released in late 1942) and 1945 (released in late 1944).
They are really more uncommon, even more in "mint" condition.

Like for the SS-Xmas books, no 1941 edition existed.
You will find 1942, 1943, 1944 SS-Xmas books.
Nota : like for the SS-Xmas books, SS-Soldatenfreunde seemed to have been published in other languages (?), but they are even more scare...
I think at least one dutch edition exist ?
See You
Vince
