    SS Visor - Opinions Please

    Hi Everybody,

A friend has asked me about this visor cap. Unfortunately, headgear is not my thing, not that I wouldn't mind a nice visor, it's just a realm of Third Reich militaria I'm yet to explore. Anyway, my friend fears the worst and is beginning to get rather stressed about the possible outcome: consequently, I would very much appreciate your opinions, at least to put his mind at rest, one way or the other.

    Thanks for looking.

    Best regards,
    Toby.

                    Toby.

I think this is a very good copy - the label is not the 'usual' type for this (post-'36) cap, but, more importantly, the 'beading' along the entire edge of the sweatband is typical of the latest good fakes. Also - I don't like the insignia.

                    Robin.

                      Hi Robin,

Thanks for taking a look. I think there might be a few tears this evening.

                      Best regards,
                      Toby.

PS Thanks for the paganism TV prog. tip.

I hope so. I get the impression he paid a fair bit for this.

                            TobyR,

This is a newer Janke or similar high-end copy. As Robin mentioned the black bead between the sweatband and the pasteboard is typical of this type of repro.
The interior looks brand new, the gold runes are off, the sweat-diamond appears flexible and the RZM/SS stamp under visor is really sloppy in appearance.
I also do not care for the stiff cap spring and perfect saucer shape of this cap.
                            Jerry

Thanks Jerry. I thought the RZM/SS stamp looked pretty terrible.

                              Best regards,
                              Toby.
